Defeating Giants

Defeating Giants
Is there a giant in your life? Someone who is hindering you that is great in stature? Is there a giant that is trying overcome you with their awe and shock approach? In the days of David, in the Old Testament, there were giants on earth. Obviously, the giants were a formidable enemy just due to their size and strength however God’s people stood their ground and defeated the giants. You can defeat the giants in your life too.
In Scripture we read about an encounter that David, one of God’s servants, had with some giants.
“Now it happened afterward that war broke out at Gezer with the Philistines, at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite killed Sippai who was one of the sons of the giant. And they were subdued.

Again there was war with the Philistines, and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.

Yet again there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, with twenty-four fingers and toes, six on each hand and six on each foot; and he also was born to the giant. So when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David’s brother, killed him.

These were born to the giant in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.

Quite interesting warfare the people of God had to engage in. In this incident, as recorded in the First Book of Chronicles, these giants “defied Israel.” I’m curious…Are you being defied? As a child of the living of God is a spiritual giant trying to conquer you? To overpower you? To destroy you? They may seem very intimidating as I’m sure these giants were in David’s day (24 fingers & toes). God was faithful to bless David with the strength to defeat the giants…”they fell by the hand of David.”
Remind yourself you are in a position of utmost authority and power for you are in Christ. Just like David of Old; He has given you power in the New. Do not fear these giants. They are bullies that need to driven out in Jesus name. The apostle Paul puts it this way in 2 Corinthians 2:14: “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ.” So giants beware for we win in Jesus!
